All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take precedence.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in the English Riviera, drivers must be at least 21 years old. Age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with additional fees applicable for those under 25. A valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Payment information and a security deposit must also be provided, along with any further criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, telephone, or directly at our English Riviera office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pick-up. All charges are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and requires your signature to confirm its accuracy. You must return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, acknowledging that normal wear and tear is permissible. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as received; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may lead to additional fees, so please contact us if you foresee a delay. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental period, along with a processing fee.
Insurance and Liability Overview
- All car rentals include basic third-party insurance coverage. Detailed information regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to help mitigate your financial risk. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless further insurance is obtained. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of insurance provisions.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities or purposes. Engaging in racing, rallying, or off-roading is prohibited, as are any hazardous activities. Transporting dangerous materials, sub-letting the vehicle, or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should not be used beyond its intended purpose, and passenger or weight limits must be adhered to. Travel outside of the specified geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Disclaimer
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire English Riviera will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid for your rental in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
